I agree wholeheartedly.

Twitter started as this for me. I chose people, more or less arbitrarily, that knew about things I didn’t or had opinions different than mine. Since then, I have met and befriended some of these people. (i.e. Anna and Jason)

These new voices have certainly made my life richer. I urge you to give it a try.
